WORKING TOGETHER TO ADVANCE SPACE DEVELOPMENT

LANGUAGES WORKING GROUP (LWG)

ABOUT:
The Languages Working Group (LWG) seeks to figure out and describe the role that the various languages of the Initial Crew would play in connecting the watching world to the developments off Earth.

OBJECTIVES:
   - Update the Languages page.    - Develop a concept for what language clusters the Initial Crew of eight should know so as to be able to speak to the most people in the world in a language that they understand.
   - Assemble a calculation of how many people would be able to understand a language of the Initial Crew.
   - Develop a map showing what countries would be able to understand at least one member of the Initial Crew.
   - Figure out how translation would work from the Moon.
   - Write up articles in the popular space press (e.g. The Space Review) on the topic.
   - Write up more formal (e.g. scientific) papers on the topic.
   - Produce a video of what it would be like for an Initial Crew member to interact with journalists and students.
