Bootprint Preserve
We all remember that bootprint photograph returned during the Apollo Program. It was iconic. And in the future, there will be many first bootprints on the Moon and Mars of the first Brazilian, the first Nigerian, the first Japanese, etc. For those of us not from those countries, those artifacts may not be important. But for passengers arriving from those countries, those bootprints would be considered to be historic. So, what could be done to preserve them, especially as they are likely going to be within the blast zone of the rocket upon which they landed?

The Space Development Network proposes that important artifacts on the Moon and Mars be preserved for future generations. The method of doing this would be pretty simple. A clear plastic or glass dome should be placed over the bootprints. In this way, when the rocket takes off and covers the area with dust, it can be wiped away, the dome removed and the artifact will still remain to be seen by others.
